A Fractured Light by Jocelyn Davies

       "A Fractured Light" is an easy read for any fans of teen romance and fallen angels. Between the Rebels and the Order, Skye Parker is a breath between finding her rightful place. She has finally pledged herself to the Rebellion, but a twist at the end shows that she is not just dark.

       This book was a great sequel to A Beautiful Dark, and gave me more insight into the plot as I read. The story developed and left me hungry for more. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and can't wait for the next book.

Poison by Chris Wooding

      Poison is a book about a girl - named Poison. She is "different" from all of the other people in her village. When her sister is suddenly switched out for a changeling, the story is set into motion. But what she doesn't know is that it's not just any story...

       I found this book to be a very interesting read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised when I finished the book. I recommend this book to any fantasy lover out there. It is a classic read and you won't forget it. Anyone who loves a book with as many twist and turns as a slinky should read this. Other books like this are The Iron King and various Julie Kagawa books. Hope this inspires anyone to read!

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

            The Truth About Forever follows the life of a girl named Macy who joins a catering business against the wishes of her mom. After Macy’s father passed away, Macy became a more reserved person and became obsessed with needing everything to be perfect, which is why this catering job is exactly what she needs to get rid of that mentality. Wes is the exact opposite of Macy. He is a tall, dark and handsome guy that is more interested in flaws than perfection, showing Macy that she doesn’t need to be perfect all the time ad that she should just let go and be free. Through a game called Truth, Wes and Macy become closer and realize that they both change each other for the better.

            The Truth About Forever is a good, relaxing book to read if you’re looking for a lighthearted plot and a story about emotional growth. The plot is a bit slow and takes time to progress but it is written very well and leaves you wanting to know what happens next. I would recommend this book to people who appreciate a novel about romance, self betterment, acceptance, and inability to reach perfection.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

            The Kite Runner takes places in the city of Kabul, Afghanistan and follows the lives of Amir and Hassan, two young boys that grow up together. It is a touching story about the bond of friendship between two boys from different societal classes and how they impacted each others lives. The novel displays lots of hardship dealing with prejudice, religious differences, class differences, internal conflict, and disturbing experiences. On one fateful day, Hassan experiences something that will change both the boys forever and send them on an emotional roller coaster ride. It is a story about growing up, accepting mistakes and moving on towards a better life.

            I can honestly say that of all the books I’ve read during my lifetime, none have changed me and impacted me as much as The Kite Runner. The plot is phenomenal and the book is brilliantly written and it left me in tears when I finished it. I cannot relate this book to my life, however, I admire the characters’ morality, and ability to be so selfless to help the people they love. Their selflessness made me want to be a better person. This book is perfect for people who enjoy reading about friendship and people’s emotional journeys through life that shape them into what they are. Also, if you are interested in a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat with every chapter, then this is the perfect book for you.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Fault in Our Stars is a heartfelt novel about the lives of cancer patients and how they deal with their disease while learning to appreciate life as much as they can in the time they have.  People without cancer can never know what it feels like to be conscience of the fact that their health is deteriorating at a fast pace and that their days on the earth are numbered. Hazel has a type of cancer in her lungs that is incurable and she has accepted the fact that she will die early. She has a normal unexciting outlook on life, until she meets Augustus Waters. He shows up at her support group and changes her personality completely. Hazel learns a lot about life and grief and family and cancer. This book will put you on a roller coaster ride full of emotion and admiration for cancer patients that deal with their diseases.

In my opinion, The Fault in Our Stars is one of the best fiction books I have ever read. I am a bit biased because I believe John Green is a phenomenal author and I love all of his books. But this book has taught be to be a lot more appreciative of things I normally take for granted like being healthy and being able to fully experience life. This book is for those readers that have a passion for romance novels and novels that teach you important lessons such as appreciation for simple things. I found that I could connect with the main character in this novel in the sense that she looked at things from a practical point of view and didn’t put all hope of recovery into a spontaneous miracle that would cure her. I especially enjoyed the comedy in this book that truly had me laughing out loud. I could not put this book down even while I was on vacation because it was such an inspiring story.

Ophelia by Lisa Klein

            Ophelia is a novel written from the point of view of Hamlet’s lover, Ophelia. Klein took a classic Shakespearean play and wrote the story again through the eyes of a different character in the same story, showing what really happened to Ophelia when all the characters from the traditional play thought she was dead. It is a romance novel about the life of Ophelia and her love for Prince Hamlet which literally made her go crazy enough to make some rash decisions. She must decide whether she is willing to sacrifice her peace of mind and her freedom for love or whether she will break out of her cage and fly away from Denmark to live peacefully, away from all the drama and madness.

            Ophelia was an entertaining and interesting novel to read because it told the reader what was going through Ophelia’s mind as all the madness was going on with Hamlet seeing the ghost of his father. It is a witty and virtuous novel for readers that have already read “Hamlet” and would like to read the same plot through the eyes of a character that is not the tragic hero.
